Grand Jury indicts Pettus-Brown

Lashawn Pettus-Brown has been indicted today by a Hamilton County grand jury.

Pettus-Brown, 28, was indicted on two counts of aggravated theft, three counts of tampering with records, one count of forgery, and one count of unauthorized use of property for incidents that occurred throughout 2002.

Pettus-Brown received $184,000 from the city to rehabilitate the Empire Theatre. Little work was ever completed on the theatre. The majority of the money was used on Pettus-Browns daily living expenses and concert promotions.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph Deters said, We sought these state charges to bring justice to the taxpayers of the city. There must be accountability when someone is handed this kind of money and he just walks away.
