Man indicted for fatal shooting of pregnant bystander

A Hamilton County grand jury indicted Eric Jackson on Thursday, November 10, 2005, for two counts of Murder, with a gun specification, for the fatal shooting of Tawnia Kirksey and her unborn child.

On October 23, 2005, Jackson was involved in a fight on President's Drive in Hamilton County, when he fired shots that killed bystander Tawnia Kirksey as she was walking past the scene. Ms. Kirksey, who was pregnant at the time of her death, was the mother of four other children.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph Deters said, “Tawnia Kirksey and her baby should be alive today and with her family. As stated before, we will aggressively prosecute anyone who uses a gun to commit a crime.”
