Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph T. Deters announces the indictment of the "Blue-Eyed Rapist"

Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph T. Deters today announced the indictment of a man linked by DNA evidence to a series of rapes stretching across Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

David Hopper, 42, of Northern Kentucky has been indicted on rape, attempted rape, kidnapping, aggravated robbery and robbery for the attack that occurred February 10, 1992. Around 3:30 p.m., Hopper entered Shoe World in Colerain Township. The defendant engaged in conversation with the victim, a sales clerk at the store, while trying on shoes. He then left the store.

Hopper returned a short time later and pointed a small handgun at the victim. He took the victim in the back of the store and raped her. He also demanded money from the cash register.

If convicted on all the charges in Hamilton County, Hopper faces up to 80 years in prison. He is currently being held at the Campbell County jail on a $1 million bond.
