Man indicted for the kidnapping and rape of a Hamilton County employee

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters today announced the indictment of Tyrone Franklin for the kidnapping, rape and robbery of a Hamilton County Job and Family Services employee.

On December 5, 2005, Franklin, 23, approached the victim as she walked from a parking lot at 13 th and Sycamore Streets to her job at 222 East Central Parkway. The victim was forced at gunpoint back into her own car and forced to withdraw money from an ATM. Franklin then took the victim to an abandoned house and raped her.

Franklin was caught near Atlanta, Georgia on December 13, 2005. He is currently being held on a $1.2 million bond. If convicted on all charges, Franklin faces up to 43 years in prison.

Prosecutor Deters said, “This predator needs to be removed from society for as long as possible. We intend to do that.”
