Cincinnati Police Officer indicted for rape and sexual battery

(Cincinnati, Ohio) - Today, a Hamilton County Grand Jury indicted a Cincinnati Police Officer for three counts of rape and three counts of sexual battery. He now faces up to 31 years in prison.

On October 3, 2006, on duty Cincinnati Police Officer William Simpson, 46, responded to a dispute between the victim and her ex-boyfriend. The victim’s former boyfriend broke into her home. By the time Officer Simpson arrived to the scene, the victim’s former boyfriend had left. However, the victim had visible injuries.

The defendant took the victim to the clerk’s office to file burglary charges and then they returned to the victim’s home. Officer Simpson said he would need to take pictures of her injuries. The victim asked the defendant if a female officer could take the pictures or if she could take them herself. However, Simpson refused and said he would take the pictures.

As Simpson took the pictures, he made sexual advances towards the victim, held her wrists and forcefully raped her. He also instructed her not to tell anyone what happened.
