Murderer of "ceasefire" advocate indicted

Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph T. Deters announced today the indictment of Phillip Harris for the December 29, 2006 murder of a volunteer with the CeaseFire Cincinnati organization, a group dedicated to ending gun violence.

Harris, 20, has been indicted on one count of Aggravated Murder for the attack that took place at 11:30 p.m. at the Sycamore Hotel, 7759 Reading Road. The defendant and Richard Muhammad argued over money. Harris directed a juvenile co-defendant to shoot Muhammad, 42, causing his death.

Harris is currently being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center and if convicted, he faces Life in prison.

The case involving the juvenile co-defendant is pending.
