Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters Announces the indictment of Cincinnati Firefighter Jeffrey Yount

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of 39 year-old West Price Hill resident and Cincinnati firefighter Jeffrey Yount (dob 8-29-69) on 1 count of Stopping After an Accident (F5) and 3 counts of Obstructing Justice (F5). Yount faces the possibility of 4 years incarceration.

Yount was an eyewitness to an August 26, 2006 hit-skip accident on Queen City Avenue that resulted in serious physical injury to pedestrian Christopher Bryant. Yount had contact with the driver who struck Mr. Bryant and advised him to leave the scene if he had been drinking. The driver left the scene without providing police with information as required by law. Yount returned to the scene of the accident and gave false information to the police about the vehicle and driver who struck Mr. Bryant.

Also named in the indictment today is 27year-old Casey J. Elder (dob 8-13-81) who was the driver of the vehicle that struck Mr. Bryant. He is charged with 1 count of Stopping After an Accident (F5) and faces the possibility of 1 year incarceration.

The case remained unsolved until a recent anonymous tip provided police with information about the driver of the vehicle and Younts involvement. Yount continued to give the police false information which gave rise to the third count of Obstructing Justice
