Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announces the Indictment for College of Mt. St. Joseph arson

Today, Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of 18-year-old former Mt. Lookout resident Jordan Cullen (dob 5-11-90) on 2 counts of Aggravated Arson. These charges are felonies of the first and second degree and carry a possible maximum sentence of 18 years in prison.

Cullen is charged with setting fires on March 5, 2009 at the College of Mt. St. Joseph at 5701 Delhi Pike in Delhi. The fires were set between 9:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in women's restrooms in the Art Building, in a hallway of the Art Building and in a women's bathroom at Seton Center.

Total damage is estimated at $20,000.00.

A student at the college, Daviene Hutsell, died during the fire. Her death remains under investigation.

Prosecutor Deters commented, "Arson in a populated setting is a very serious crime as it has a high potential for loss of life. The death of one student during the fire remains under investigation. We appreciate the hard work of the fire and police departments who responded to the scene and the cooperation of witnesses who gave us valuable information."
