Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announces the indictment of former Hamilton County Common Pleas Bailiff Damon Ridley


Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of former Hamilton County Common Pleas Bailiff Damon Ridley (dob 1/10/71).

Ridley is charged with one count of Theft in Office (Felony 4), one count of Bribery (Felony 3) and one count of Attempted Bribery (Felony 4). If convicted on all charges, he faces the possibility of 8 years in prison.

Ridley is charged with events that occurred during May 2008 at which time he was employed as a bailiff for the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas. In his position as bailiff, Ridley had the responsibility for setting the judge's calendar and managing the criminal docket. In the course of his responsibilities, he had contact with criminal defendants and their attorneys. Ridley is charged with taking money from a criminal defendant in order to guarantee a certain sentence and also attempting to extort additional sums from the same defendant for a lesser sentence.
