Hamilton County Prosecutor announces additional indictment in death of Jorene White

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of Brian White (DOB 6/27/77) in the July 23, 2010 death of his mother Jorene White.  Brian White is charged with 1 count of Involuntary Manslaughter (Felony 1) and 1 count of Failing to Provide for a Functionally Impaired Person (Felony 4).  If convicted of all charges, he faces the possibility of 11 ½ years in prison.

On July 23, 2010 the Cincinnati Police Department responded to the White home on 4420 Plainville Road in Madisonville in response to a 911 call.   Ms. White’s body,  covered with maggots, flies and rotting bed sores, was discovered in the home.  The Hamilton County Coroner concluded that she died from sepsis and ruled the death a homicide as a result of medical neglect.  Her husband, Darrell White, was previously charged in this case and is serving a term of probation after being convicted of Reckless Homicide and Failure to Provide for a Functionally Impaired Person.

Brian White was not charged in July as his father originally took full responsibility for Mrs. White’s death.  The police continued their investigation into this matter resulting in today’s charges against the son.

Prosecutor Deters commented, “This is a terribly sad case.  It is hard to imagine the conditions under which Mrs. White lived and died.  Even veteran police officers were horrified by the conditions in the home.”
