Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announces indictment in 14-year-old rape case

Victim died 13 years ago.

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of Alfonso Williams (DOB 6/13/59) in a 1998 rape case. Williams is charged with 2 counts of Rape (Felony 1), 1 count of Aggravated Burglary (Felony 1) and 1 count of Kidnapping (Felony 1).  If convicted of all charges, he faces the possibility of 40 years in prison.

Williams is charged with raping a 77-year-old female victim in her Westwood home on May 3, 1998.  Williams gained entry to her apartment by removing a window air conditioner.  After stealing $385.00 from the victim, the defendant twice raped the 77-year-old victim and fled the scene.

The victim immediately reported the crime to the police and an investigation ensued,   but the crime remained unsolved until 2011 when a DNA CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) hit matched semen found on the victim’s nightgown with the defendant’s DNA.  Williams’ DNA was taken when he was convicted of Involuntary Manslaughter and Felonious Assault in Hamilton County, Ohio in 2011.  He is currently serving 14 years in the London Correctional Institution.

The victim passed away of natural causes in 1999.

Prosecutor Deters commented, “It is impossible to overstate the value of DNA evidence in these cases.  Our victim died 13 years ago.  We can now seek justice for her and deliver it to the monster who brutally raped this 77-year-old woman.  Good riddance to him.”
