Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announces indictment of Harold Croft in murder of Africa Hope

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of Harold Croft (DOB 11/7/75) in the death of 15-year-old Africa Hope.  Croft is charged with 1 count of Aggravated Murder with specifications (Special Felony), 1 count of Murder with specifications (Special Felony), 1 count of Felonious Assault with specifications (Special Felony) and 2 counts of Having Weapons Under Disability (Felony 3).  If convicted of all charges, he faces the possibility of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Croft is charged with shooting 15-year-old Africa Hope on June 18, 2012 in Over-the-Rhine.  Croft was aiming for Maurice McEntire, the victim in the Felonious Assault, when he shot and killed Africa.  Today’s indictment contains specifications for the use of the firearm as well as specifications relating to his prior convictions for Voluntary Manslaughter (B 0303835), Trafficking in Cocaine (B 0106745) and Drug Abuse (B 9603672).
