Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announces indictment in death of 6- month- old baby

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of Sedamsville resident Frederick Mitchell (DOB 3-16-92) in the death of 6-month-old E.M.  Mitchell is charged with 2 counts of Murder (Special Felony) and 1 count of Felonious Assault (Felony 2). If convicted of all charges, he faces the possibility of life in prison.

On March 8th, Mitchell, an acquaintance of the child’s mother, was home alone with the baby at his residence at 343 Mt. Hope Avenue.  Mitchell called 911 and said that the baby was not breathing.  The baby was transported to Children’s Hospital where he died on March 10th.

Mitchell was originally charged with Felonious Assault (Felony 2) prior to the baby’s death.

The Hamilton County Coroner ruled the death a homicide as the result of blunt force trauma.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph Deters commented, “This is another sad case of a child killed at the hands of the adult who was supposed to be watching him.  We have had far too many of these cases recently in Hamilton County.”
