Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announces request for outside counsel in representation of Judge Tracie Hunter

New attorneys appointed for Judge Hunter.

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced that he asked the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners to appoint outside counsel for Judge Tracie Hunter.  The Board has agreed to this request and the entry is now being circulated among the judges in the General Division of the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas for their final approval.

The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office typically represents Hamilton County judges when they are sued in their official capacity.  The Prosecutor’s Office had been providing such representation to Judge Hunter in several civil suits filed against her by media outlets and Writs of Procedendo filed against her by the Hamilton County Public Defender.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Deters commented, “This action became necessary after Judge Hunter filed grievances with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel against me and 3 of my assistants.  We had resisted taking this action knowing that we could provide excellent legal representation to Judge Hunter and save the taxpayers a bill for outside counsel.  Unfortunately, this is no longer an option given the recent grievances that she has filed against us.”

Firooz Namei, of McKinney and Namei, and James Bogen, of the James Bogen Law Office, will now provide representation for Judge Hunter in the pending civil suits filed against her in her official capacity.
