Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announces indictment in Madeira shooting

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of Madeira resident Blake Seylhouwer for 2 counts of Felonious Assault (Felony 2) and 1 count of Domestic Violence (Misdemeanor 1).  If convicted of all charges, he faces the possibility of 11 years in prison.

Seylhouwer is charged with the August 12th shooting of his wife Misty Seylhouwer in the driveway of their Madeira home on Windridge Drive.  Police responded to the residence after Blake Seylhouwer placed a call to 911 at approximately 3:00 p.m. to say that he had shot his wife.

When the police and other emergency personnel responded to the residence, they discovered that Mrs. Seylhouwer had been hit by shrapnel from a hunting rifle round.   She was taken to U.C. Hospital for medical treatment and released the next day.  She had injuries to her eyebrow, neck, abdomen and leg.

The Seylhouwers had an argument that day and the defendant had returned to the residence for some personal items.  When he returned to the residence, the argument continued and that is when he fired the hunting rifle toward the victim.  Their 2 young children were inside the residence and were not injured.
