Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announces indictment of Zontae Irby and his mother

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of Westwood resident Zontae Irby (DOB 12-7-89).  Irby is charged with 1 count of Trafficking in Marijuana (Felony 3), 1 count of Possession of Marijuana (Felony 5) and 1 count of Receiving Stolen Property (Felony 4).  The Receiving Stolen Property charge involves a stolen firearm found in his residence.  If convicted of all charges, Irby faces the possibility of 8 ½ years in prison.   Irby’s mother, Westwood resident Volores White (DOB 12-14-72) is also charged with 1 count of Permitting Drug Abuse (Felony 5).  If convicted, she faces the possibility of 2 years in prison.

Irby was charged after his 6-year-old neighbor Zainabou Drame was mauled by 2 of his 3 pit bulls on June 4th when she was playing outside in the neighborhood.  She remains hospitalized in Cincinnati Children’s Hospital as a result of her injuries.  This incident remains under investigation.

After the dog attack, Cincinnati Police searched the White and Irby residence which resulted in today’s charges against mother and son.  Both mother and son live together in the Aquadale Lane residence.
