Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announces indictment in stranger rape case
Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of Mt. Healthy resident David Warren Huffman (DOB 8/5/90) for 1 count of Kidnapping (Felony 1), 1 count of Rape (Felony 1), and 1 count of Felonious Assault (Felony 2). If convicted of all charges, he faces the possibility of 30 years in prison.
Huffman is charged with assaulting the adult female victim in the early morning hours of February 13th in Northside. The victim was walking down the street when Huffman grabbed her and dragged her behind a home on Bruce Avenue where he sexually assaulted her. The victim reported the assault to the Cincinnati Police Department.
Based on the information from the victim as well as a DNA match, Huffman was arrested and stands indicted today. DNA retrieved from the victim matched Huffman’s DNA already in the statewide Combined DNA Index System (“CODIS”).
Prosecutor Deters commented, “Congratulations to the Cincinnati Police Department for a job well done and for the technology that helps us to solve these cases quickly. We rarely see stranger rape cases, typically the perpetrator is someone known to the victim, but fortunately in this case the police were able to solve the case quickly and get a dangerous person off of our streets.”
