Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announces no delinquency charges in the death of 7-year-old Earl Robinson

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced that there would be no delinquency charges filed against the 11-year-old suspect in the accidental shooting death of 7-year-old Earl Robinson. The matter has been referred to the Department of Jobs and Family Services.

No decision has been made about possible criminal charges for others who may be involved in this matter.

On January 30, 2009, Cincinnati Police responded to 3539 Purdue Street in Avondale and found 7-year-old Earl Robinson suffering from a gunshot wound. The 7-year-old South Avondale student was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr. Deters commented, "This is a tragedy. No delinquency charges are appropriate in this matter, but it reminds us again that adults need to be ever vigilant in keeping guns away from children."
