HAMILTON COUNTY PROSECUTOR JOSEPH DETERS ANNOUNCES THE INDICTMENT OF MATT CONES
Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of Matt Cones for one count of Illegal
Manufacture of Drugs or Cultivation of Marihuana (F5). A marijuana grow operation was discovered in Cones'
house at 5708 Squirrelsnest Lane during the investigation of the fatal fire that killed two Colerain Township
fire fighters during the early morning hours of Friday, April 4, 2008. The investigation revealed that the
marijuana grow operation did not contribute to the fatal fire.
Prosecutor Deters commented, "Although this marijuana grow operation was discovered under the
most tragic of circumstances, this is the appropriate charge."
If convicted of the Illegal Manufacture of Drugs or Cultivation of Marihuana (F5), Cones
faces the penalty of probation or 6 - 12 months in prison
