PRESS RELEASE 06/13/2008
HAMILTON COUNTY PROSECUTOR JOSEPH T. DETERS ANNOUNCES THE INDICTMENT OF "JOHN DOE."
Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of "John Doe" for
11 counts of Rape (F1), 4 counts of Kidnapping (F1) and 4 counts of Aggravated Burglary (F1). This defendant
terrorized the Clifton area near the University of Cincinnati campus in 1995-1996 by breaking into four
separate residences and sexually assaulting the female residents.
Deters explained that, "Although Cincinnati Police had a physical description of a male white
mid twenties to thirties, approximately 5'9" - 6 ft. tall, medium build with light to medium colored hair,
they were not able to identify and arrest a suspect. DNA analysis has confirmed that 3 of the incidents were
committed by the same person and the fourth incident is a similar modus operandi. We know through DNA profile
and other information, who committed these crimes, but we need to put a name to the DNA profile. We sought
this indictment to make sure that when he is arrested, we are ready to prosecute him and that there would not
be any legal arguments in regard to the statute of limitations. Although some time has past since he
committed these crimes, we remain committed to finding this individual to make sure that he does not terrorize
anyone else."
If convicted of all charges, "John Doe" faces the possibility of 190 years in prison.
Anyone with information about these crimes is urged to call the Cincinnati Police Department
or Crime Stoppers
