Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announces Indictment in Forest Park fatal shooting
Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announces the indictment of Domynic Elahee in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Jaeden Smith.
Smith, who was unarmed, was shot on May 5 while trying to protect his younger brother from bullying.
Elahee, 38, of Forest Park, was indicted Tuesday on charges of murder, felony murder and two charges of felonious assault. He faces up to up to life in prison.
Elahee is being arraigned in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court today at 9:30 a.m. Elahee is currently being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center on $1 million bond.
Smith, who was with his 7-year-old brother, knocked on the door of Elahee’s residence just after 6 p.m. hoping to talk to him about Elahee’s son bullying the 7-year-old.
Elahee’s 10-year-old daughter answered the door and Elahee came out of the back bedroom and shot Smith, who was on the porch. Smith’s brother and Elahee’s daughter witnessed the shooting.
“This is heartbreaking,” said Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich. “Jaeden was unarmed and attempting to have a conversation about bullying, which was the proper way to handle the situation. Now, two families’ lives are forever changed. We will be seeking the highest possible penalty.”
