Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announces Indictment of three involved in critical incident

Today Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announced the indictment of three people for an incident that started with a report of a stolen vehicle and ended in a critical incident that resulted in the death of an 18-year-old man.

Cynsere Grigsby, 18, Jurell Austin, 18, and Deanthony Bullocks, 19, were each indicted on seven charges: two charges of obstructing official business, two charges of theft, receiving stolen property, improperly handing a firearm in a motor vehicle and having weapons while under disability.

On the morning of May 1, the Cincinnati Police Department Fugitive Apprehension Squad was alerted to a stolen Kia Telluride parked in East Price Hill. When officers arrived at approximately 9:30 a.m. four people fled the vehicle, prompting a police chase. A loaded firearm that had been stolen in Kentucky was recovered from the stolen vehicle. A second loaded firearm was recovered at the scene outside of the stolen vehicle.

The three defendants in today’s indictment were in the stolen vehicle and ran into nearby woods and were later caught.

The investigation into the death of the 18-year-old man is ongoing and will take some time to complete. Once the investigation is complete, our office will review the evidence. Until the investigation and our review of the evidence are complete, the prosecutor’s office will not be commenting on the situation.
