Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announced that the Cincinnati Police officer involved in the May 1, 2025 death of Ryan Hinton was legally justified in his use of force.

“When Ryan Hinton was confronted by officers about a stolen car, he not only had a gun, with a fully loaded magazine and a bullet in the chamber, but he pointed it at Officer A,” said Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich. “Officer A made a split-second decision that likely saved his life and the lives of other officers.”

The review process is designed to look at all the facts. What’s important is that it’s fair, thorough and transparent.

“I am confident that goal has been achieved,” Pillich said.

The final forensics report was recently delivered to the prosecutor’s office.

Pillich made the determination after reviewing all the available evidence. The shooting was not presented to a grand jury.
