The only thing more shocking than the facts of this case is that the victim lived.

On the day of her attack, the victim was home with her 21-month-old son when Lamb knocked on her door. She knew Lamb because he worked for her husband and believed he was there to fix the overhead door in the garage. The victim went about taking care of her son while Lamb "worked" on the door. At some point, Lamb went into the kitchen for a glass of water and removed three knives from one of the kitchen drawers. The victim poked her head into the garage to see how the repair was progressing and Lamb told her he was almost finished. The victim then turned and carried her baby back into the house. That is when Lamb struck.

He came up behind her, wrapped an arm around her neck and put one of the knives to her throat. When he told her he was going to rape her, she tried to fight him off, but Lamb was a big, strong man and he forced her into the bedroom. Through the closed bedroom door she could hear her baby calling out for his mother.

She pleaded with him to stop as he forced her to remove all her clothing. He then forced her onto her knees and made her perform fellatio on him. Then he moved her onto the bed and anally raped her. After that he ordered her to roll onto her back and he vaginally raped her until he ejaculated inside her. Once he was finished, he puts his hands around her neck and told her he was going to kill her. She fought with everything she had to keep him from strangling her. When strangulation didn't immediately work, he switched to the knife instead.

Lamb stabbed her at least ten times in the face, neck and upper body. The victim had petechial hemorrhaging in both eyes from the strangulation and defensive cuts to both hands from trying to fend off his attacks. Believing it was her only means of escape, the victim pretended to be dead. Given how many times he had stabbed her and the massive pool of blood she was laying in, Lamb believed he had killed her and left the room. He came back and began to strangle her again to make sure. When he was convinced she was dead, he finally left. The victim managed to get to her son and to call for police.

When officers arrived, they found her naked, covered only by a small blanket and her own blood. The victim was clearly going into shock and police, believing her death was imminent questioned her about what happened. Paramedics transported her to the hospital and her life was saved. While the child was covered in her blood from her hugging him to say goodbye, he was otherwise physically unharmed (one can only try to imagine the psychological harm).

Lamb violently raped and attempted to murder his victim while her 21-month-old son was crying out for her. Whether through sheer luck or divine intervention and despite his repeated efforts, Lamb's victim survived. Lamb should not reap the benefit of that fortune. He should be treated as the murderer he tried not once or twice, but three times to be. He is a violent rapist who should not be granted parole.
