On October 3, 1988, Jones entered a bank in Cincinnati, Ohio, and fired a shot into the ceiling. He then robbed the bank, taking money from five bank tellers. He left with $10,620 in cash, which included bait money and exploding dye packs. As he ran down the street, the dye packs exploded and began spewing pink smoke.

The pink smoke caught the eye of an off-duty Cincinnati Police Officer, Robert Hennekes, who had been jogging in the area. Officer Hennekes chased after Jones but briefly lost him. When he saw Jones in a vehicle, he approached the vehicle and bent over to speak to Jones. This is when Jones pointed his gun at Hennekes and shot him in the chest.

Jones then fled in the vehicle. A police chase took place, ending only when Jones wrecked into a building. He then ran into some nearby woods, which is where he was eventually apprehended.

Jones’ actions proved that he was a danger to the community. Without hesitation, he used a firearm, both to commit the bank robbery and in his attempted flight from that crime. He put countless more people at risk by leading the police on a chase that ended with him thankfully ramming his car into a building and not a person.

Those, of course, are just his convictions out of Hamilton County. He also has convictions for attempted murder and felonious assault out of Clermont County from 2007.

Nor has his time in prison reduced his violent tendencies. Just over a year ago, he charged another inmate and began striking him. That likely led to his being dropped from security level 1 to 2.

From getting in prison fights to shooting off-duty police officers to attempted murders, Jones has repeatedly shown that he is a violent, dangerous person. He should not be released from prison.
