Over a six month span starting in the fall of 1987 until he was captured in March of 1988, Dale Jackson terrorized the elderly citizens of Cincinnati. He admitted to targeting at least 15 different people and the media dubbed him the “Senior Stalker” because he preyed on senior citizens.

Jackson assaults an 85-year-old woman

On November 4, Jackson knocked on the apartment door of an 85-year-old woman. When she answered the door, he claimed to have been sent by the landlord to do some repair work on her windows. Once she had admitted him and closed the door, Jackson grabbed her from behind. He choked her and forced her to the floor and beat her. He then pulled out a knife and severely cut the woman’s thumb. He then gagged her by stuffing rags in her mouth. While he assaulted her, he kept telling her what he was going to do to her sexually, or what he was going to make her do to him. Fortunately, he did not follow through with his threats. He subsequently told police he would say things like this to his female victims to scare them. It worked. While she lay frightened and bleeding on the floor, Jackson ransacked the apartment and stole $83 in cash.

Jackson assaults a 95-year-old woman

Five days later, on November 9, Jackson’s next victim was a 95-year-old woman living in an apartment by herself. Jackson knocked on the door and forced his way in once she opened it. He grabbed her by the neck and started choking her as he dragged her to the floor. He then beat her about the head, neck and chest area causing her injuries that required her to be hospitalized for several days.

Jackson assaults a 79-year-old man

On November 20, Jackson took his next victim, a 79-year-old man, as he was unlocking his apartment door. Jackson attacked him from behind, forcing him into the apartment. Jackson then beat him into submission before ransacking his apartment. Jackson stole $3.50 in cash, a .25 caliber pistol, and 8 wrist watches the victim had purchased to give as Christmas presents. The victim was hospitalized with broken ribs and extensive bruising to his chest and face.

Jackson assaults a 74-year-old man

On December 1, Jackson attacked a 74-year-old man as he opened the door to his apartment. Jackson forced him into the apartment, threw the victim to the floor and held a knife to his throat. He threatened to kill the man unless he gave him all his money. The victim gave him the $19 he had and Jackson fled.

Jackson repeatedly victimizes a 68-year-old woman

Jackson’s next victim came to light on December 13. A landlord reported that he had received information that someone was living in one of his apartments who didn’t belong there. The landlord went to the apartment, opened it with his key and found Jackson shaving in the bathroom. After a short struggle, Jackson escaped and the landlord reported the incident to the police. The subsequent investigation discovered the apartment belonged to a 68-year-old who lived there by herself. She stated that a month before Jackson had climbed up her fire escape, broken a window and entered the apartment. He then choked her and demanded money, but she didn’t have any. Jackson told her he was going to be watching her and that he would come back and “get” her if she reported him to the police. The victim reported that someone had broken her window so that she could get it fixed, but did not mention that someone had entered the apartment because she was afraid.

Jackson returned a couple weeks later, again up the fire escape and again he broke a window to gain entry. Scared, the victim moved out of the apartment without telling anyone about Jackson even though she had paid the rent through December. When Jackson broke in again and discovered no one home, he took up residence in the apartment. He was observed coming and going. He admitted to police that he would take dishes and utensil from the kitchen to sell on the street.

Jackson assaults a 77-year-old woman

Jackson’s next victim was a 77-year-old woman who lived by herself. When she heard a noise at her front door she looked out her peephole and saw Jackson standing there. He said he wanted to talk to her about purchasing a statute of the Virgin Mary she had in her side yard, but she told him it was not for sale. A couple minutes later she heard a noise at her kitchen door and went to investigate. She discovered Jackson at the door and as she entered the kitchen he threw a brick through a window in the door. He then unlocked the door, and entered the apartment. He grabbed her by the neck, and choked her while he severely beat her.

The victim’s purse was on a table nearby and Jackson took $325 in cash from it, but he demanded she give him more money. She insisted she didn’t have anymore. He grabbed her by the neck and forced her upstairs where he threw her down on the bed and continued to beat her. He dragged her from room to room while he searched for more money. In a second floor bathroom, he picked up the bathroom scale and hit her in the head with it. He closed her in the bathroom and barricaded the door shut by piling furniture in front of it before leaving. When she finally freed herself and went to call the police she found that Jackson had cut her phone line. The victim was hospitalized for her injuries.

Jackson assaults a 71-year-old woman

On March 20, 1988, a 71 year old woman noticed Jackson sitting in a folding chair in her yard. He watched her as she walked through the house. While he made her nervous, she did not call the police. A little while later she was startled to find that he had moved the chair next to house and was standing on it as he started cutting her screen window. A neighbor coming home scared him off and he fled.

Jackson assaults a 61-year-old woman

Three days later, at approximately 3:00 a.m., a 61-year-old woman was awakened when Jackson struck her. He had climbed in through a first floor bathroom window and then snuck into her bedroom as she slept. He hit her to wake her up and then demanded she give him money. She gave him the $7 she had in purse, but that wasn’t enough and he demanded more. When she told him she didn’t have anymore, he told her he should rape her. As with a previous victim, he made the statement to scare her, but did not follow through with the threat. He did grab a knife from a kitchen drawer and threatened her with it while he continued to search for valuables. After three hours of this, the victim convinced him she didn’t have any more money and he left.

Jackson is finally arrested and admits to victimizing at least 15 elderly individuals

When Jackson was finally arrested, he had items in his possession that had been taken in other burglaries. It should be noted that the above facts describe what happened to eight different people. While it is unknown just how many burglaries and robberies Jackson committed during his crime spree, he ultimately admitted to committing at least 15.

Jackson is a violent predator who preyed on those least able to protect themselves. He should not be given a chance to terrorize the most vulnerable citizens of Hamilton County again. The Hamilton County Prosecutors Office opposes early release for Dale Jackson.
