Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announces 4th indictment in child sex abuse case

Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich today announced a new indictment against Barry Bedenkop, a Wyoming man who sexually abused a child over a long period of time.

Altogether, in four separate indictments, Bedenkop, 61, faces 22 charges. The new indictment includes 12 additional charges: six counts of illegal use of a minor in a nudity-oriented material or performance and six charges of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.

Bedenkop has previously been charged with two counts of child endangering, four counts of rape, three counts of gross sexual imposition and sexual battery. The case first came to authorities’ attention in May of 2025. Since then, the investigation has remained ongoing, and additional information has come to light. The abuse started when the victim was young and continued for several years.

The allegations include forcing the victim into a cage, repeated sexual abuse, and the continued exploitation of the victim through the creation and possession of sexually explicit images. The new indictment alleges that images of the victim in various states of nudity were found on Bedenkop’s computers, along with similar images of two other young victims.

"This defendant subjected his victim to years of horrific abuse beginning when the child was very young,” said Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich.

Pillich noted that delayed disclosure is common in cases involving prolonged abuse that begins at such a young age. Victims who endure this level of trauma are often controlled through fear, manipulation, isolation, and intimidation for years before they are able to come forward.

“I commend the victim for such bravery,” Pillich said. “We intend to pursue full accountability for the horrific abuse alleged in this case and to ensure this defendant never again has the opportunity to harm another child.”

Bedenkop faces a potential sentence of life in prison.

Bedenkop remains in the Hamilton Couty Justice Center on $461,000 bond related to the original charges and is expected to be arraigned on the new charges in the coming days.
