Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announces indictment in 2017 cold-case Murder

A man has been indicted in connection with a 2017 homicide that remained unsolved for nearly a decade.

A Hamilton County grand jury today indicted Deonte Wilson, 26, on three counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault and two counts of robbery in connection with the May 16, 2017 incident at 1906 Fairmont Ave in South Fairmount. All the charges relate to the same victim, who was 50 years old at the time.

The shooting happened during the purchase of marijuana. The case went cold until recently.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich said the indictment demonstrates that cold cases are never forgotten.

“Nine years may have passed, but the pursuit of justice never stopped,” Pillich said. “A victim’s family should never have to wonder whether their loved one’s death has been forgotten. This indictment is the result of Cincinnati Police investigators continuing to follow the evidence and pursuing information no matter how much time has passed. Now, we will seek justice and accountability for the victims and their families.”

Wilson is currently in prison serving a sentence on an unrelated 2022 homicide.
