Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich ANNOUNCES indictment in rape case stemming from video game chat

Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announced the indictment of a man who met an 11-year-old girl online, then met her in person and raped her.

Chevalier Adams, 39, of Avondale, was indicted on three charges of rape, as well as charges of kidnapping, importuning and grooming.

Adams met the girl through the online game Zepeto and began an online chat relationship with her in February. On July 20, Adams picked up the girl at her home and drove her to his home, where he raped her.

Adams is facing up to 26 years in prison. He was arrested and is being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center.

We will do everything possible to hold Chevalier Adams accountable for taking advantage of a young girl, who through no fault of her own, was tricked and coerced by a stranger,” said Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich. “Online predators are increasingly using video game chats and other digital platforms to target young people. I urge parents to stay vigilant. Please know who your children are talking to, monitor their online activity, and have open conversations about internet safety. What may seem like harmless gaming can quickly turn dangerous.”
